3.3.2 - Assigning a Category

Assigning a Category

Once you have created a category, you need to assign it to a property and/or office for it to display in the Guest Extranet.  If the locations/items you included in your category are convenient or apply to only a few of your properties, you would want to assign it to the property instead of the office. However, if the locations/items are convenient or apply to all your properties, you should assign it to the office.  For example, some rental companies have properties located in two different areas, like Atlantic Beach and Topsail Island.  Since these properties are located more than 45 miles apart, guests staying in Atlantic Beach probably would not be interested in restaurants located in Topsail.

Whether you assign the category to a property or an office will determine where it will display in the Guest Extranet.  Categories assigned to a property will display under the ‘Property Details’ menu whereas categories assigned to an office will display under the ‘Area Information’ section of the Guest Extranet.  You do have the ability to assign a category to both a property and an office if you would like it to display under both the ‘Property Details’ section of the Guest Extranet as well as the ‘Area Information’ section.
